CNG Gas Cycling
During a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) cycle test, the same conditions of a typical natural gas refueling station are replicated and many testing cycles are performed to test the durability of the fuel system. Pneumatic testing with CNG provides stress factors associated with rapid and simultaneous interior pressure an temperature swings.
Typical CNG gas cycle testing standards
- ANSI/CSA NGV 2: R2012 – Compressed Natural Gas Fuel Containers, Clause 14.23 “Gas Cycling Test”
- ISO 11439: 2013 – Annex A27: Natural Gas Cycling Test
- UN-ECE R110 – “Uniform provisions concerning the approval of specific component of motor vehicle using compressed natural gas (CNG) and/or liquefied natural gas (LNG) in their propulsion system”
